Update 09 16 2018: Science of Consciousness Interlaken, Switzerland, 2019 …the 26th annual international interdisciplinary conference on fundamental questions and cutting-edge issues connected with conscious experience. TSC is the largest and longest-running interdisciplinary conference emphasizing conceptual, empirical, cultural and even artistic approaches to the study of consciousness. Key areas include the philosophy of mind, cognitive science, neuroscience, anthropology, biology, physics, computer science and mathematics. Held annually since 1994, the TSC conferences alternate yearly between Tucson, Arizona, and various locations around the world. Organizers: Harald Atmanspacher (Collegium Helveticum Zurich) Stuart Hameroff (Center for Consciousness Studies, University of Arizona at Tucson)Consciousness Isn’t Scientifically Explainable December 8, 2017 – There’s a lot of confusion about what consciousness is because the content of consciousness is often confused with the nature of observing consciousness. The content of consciousness is what is observable, while observing consciousness is the observer….The laws of physics can only explain how information becomes organized within the world into the observable forms of information or images, but can never explain the nature of the observer of those images, no more than the way information becomes organized in a computer can explain the nature of the observer outside a computer screen that observes the images projected from the screen to the observer, and yet physics has something important to tell us about the nature of the observer. The fantastic thing about the holographic principle is it reconciles the relativistic observer with the quantum observer. Whenever an observer enters into an accelerated frame of reference, an event horizon arises that limits the observer’s observation of things in space. An accelerated observer’s horizon is as far out in space as the observer can see things in space.
End UpdateBiontology Some Features of Biophotons and their Interpretation in Terms of Coherent States by Dr. Fritz Albert Popp (2007) “We know today that man, essentially, is a being of light. And the modern science of photobiology is presently proving this. In terms of healing the implications are immense. We now know, for example, that quanta of light can initiate, or arrest, cascade-like reactions in the cells, and that genetic cellular damage can be virtually repaired, within hours, by faint beams of light. We are still on the threshold of fully understanding the complex relationship between light and life, but we can now say emphatically, that the function of our entire metabolism is dependent on light.”Quantum Consciousness Resources Google 5-star answer for: Resources for connection and affects of Quantum Physics and Cosmological theories on our ideas and understanding of the nature of reality and its connection to “human” consciousness. The focus is generally on the matter-to-consciousness direction. But there is an equally puzzling problem going in the other direction. What causal effects does consciousness have on physical matter? In short, what does consciousness do?Update 09 07 2018) search finds no online reference to these researchers: Dialog between Evans Harris Waker and Lee Bonnifield over EHW concept that consciousness causes state vector collapse, and the state of macroscopic systems can be correlated to the state of the conscious mind.Quantum-Information Processing with Photons Ian A. Walmsley and Michael G. Raymer- Science Magazine, Volume 307, 2005, 18 March, 1733 (fee per article) Remarkably, a scheme for effective quantum interactions between photons has been invented that does not require the photons to intereact physically. When a group of photons are in an entangled state, the measurement of one or more of these photons’ states causes the state of the remaining photons to “collapse.” Such a state collapse can be viewed as an effective interaction between the remaining photons. The nature of the interaction depends on the outcomes of the measurement on each observed (ancilla) photon. The occurrence of certain predetermined outcomes of the ancilla measurements signals (heralds) the effective intereaction of the remaining photons.Thought Energy Therapies by Gregory Nicosia, Ph.D. 2001- Basic Realities of Theory, Science & ApplicationsNeuroQuantology 2005 Massimo Bondi Quantum electrodynamics (QED) and unified synaptic channel (USC) in the identification of consciousness – “In fact we think, together with other authors, that the dualism is to be referred rather to the classical physics vs. quantum physics approach. Through such a dualistic model accounting for the formation of consciousness would derive the acts and the decisions of free will. In its wonderful awareness free will is mysteriously tuned to the Divine-Chance oscillation that is to the spiritual-material dualism.”Correlated Brain Signals Richards TL, Kozak L, Johnson LC, Standish LJ.- These data replicate previous findings suggesting that correlated neural signals may be detected by photon vector collapse MRI and EEG in the brains of subjects who are physically and sensorily isolated from each other. Our Undiscovered Universe by Terence Witt- Introducing Null Physics- The Science of Uniform and Unconditional Reality. Controversal TOE. Positive review: Physicists teaching next generations of physicists have in-bred narrow minded views and instituted a state of ‘blind dogma’, that is a typical cycle of the fundamental sciences (physics being the worst for it). This text is written by someone outside of the Physics fraternity itself, yet with the benefit of a PhD level science and engineering background. It is for the very reason of being “outside looking in”, that a fresh and unbridled view of physics’ accepted axioms is presented with logical and thorough reasoning, and in some facets outright rebuttals from current accepted truths. Skeptical forum– thread discussion with author Terry Witt- with skeptics.Bioelectromagnetics: The Question of Subtle Energies- Jan Walleczek
“There is no consensus on what is meant by “subtle energies”. Are they electromagnetic in nature? Are they highly organized and complex EM patterns which, so far, can be decoded only by living organisms? Are they at all related to the known physical forces such as electromagnetism? No one knows for certain.”Consciousness in the universe: A review of the ‘Orch OR’ theory by Stuart Hameroff and Roger Penrose (2013) Abstract: The nature of consciousness, the mechanism by which it occurs in the brain, and its ultimate place in the universe are unknown. We proposed in the mid 1990’s that consciousness depends on biologically ‘orchestrated’ coherent quantum processes in collections of microtubules within brain neurons, that these quantum processes correlate with, and regulate, neuronal synaptic and membrane activity, and that the continuous Schrödinger evolution of each such process terminates in accordance with the specific Diósi-Penrose (DP) scheme of ‘objective reduction’ (‘OR) of the quantum state. This orchestrated OR activity (‘Orch OR’) is taken to result in moments of conscious awareness and/or choice. The DP form of OR is related to the fundamentals of quantum mechanics and space-time geometry, so Orch OR suggests that there is a connection between the brain’s biomolecular processes and the basic structure of the universe. The Foundation for Mind-Being Research FMBR assists in the evolution of integrated models that encompass the physical, mental and spiritual. The Penrose-Hameroff Orch OR theory goes out on a limb to address the puzzling facets of consciousness. It has engendered criticism because 1) it differs markedly from conventional wisdom, and 2) significant quantum processes seem unlikely in the warm brain milieu. But conventional wisdom fails to address puzzling facets of consciousness, and evidence suggests that biology has evolved mechanisms for brain-temperature quantum processes. Orch OR is consistent with all known neuroscience, cognitive science, biology and physics although it extends these disciplines theoretically. Moreover, unlike conventional theories Orch OR is testable and falsifiable. Spanning neurobiology, physics and philosophy, it is the most complete theory of consciousness.A Physics of Consciousness, PSI and Survival by James E. Beichler, Ph.D – Publication rejected by the JSPR 09/21/2014 Abstract: While the psychical sciences and parapsychology have languished over the decades and failed to produce a viable theoretical basis for their observations, great strides have been made in the neurosciences especially in the areas of neurophysiology and neurophysics. The object of these researches goes beyond just discovering how the brain functions, but to actually discover the neural correlates of mind and consciousness. Understanding how brain and consciousness relate to one another has opened a new door to understanding psi and how consciousness survives death. Young, author of Science, Spirit and the Soul (1985) writes: “Our correlation of intention and consciousness with light, it is important to add, was not a correlation with electromagnetism, which is a theory of light. Nor was it even a correlation with the photon as currently thought of as a particle, but with the cycle of action, which is implicit in both theories but emphasized in neither. If we are to say that consciousness is x, there must be something known about consciousness and something known about x that, when equated, cause more to be known about both. Thus to say that consciousness is a different dimension is meaningless. To say that it is light may be intuitively gratifying, but is still only a metaphor. But to find from science that the “vibration” of light is a rotation, a cycle of action that goes through opposing phases, makes the equation of the cycle of action with the learning cycle not only meaningful but regenerative, in that it causes the interpenetration of one discipline by another.”Mihai Drãgãnescu Romanian Academy- The brain as an information processor “There are strong opponents of a quantum theory of brain/mind (MULHAUSER 1998, CHALMERS 1996 and others) and I am also an opponent of a structural quantum theory of the brain/mind. The main architects of this astonishing idea are two of the world’s most eminent thinkers: University of London physicist David Bohm, a protege of Einstein’s and one of the world’s most respected quantum physicists; and Karl Pribram, a neurophysiologist at Stanford University and author of the classic neuropsychological textbook Languages of the Brain. It is important to note that although Bohm and Pribram are the originators of the holographic idea, they do not embrace all of the views and conclusions put forward in this book.Space is not empty. It is full, a plenum as opposed to a vacuum, and is the ground for the existence of everything, including ourselves. The universe is not separate from this cosmic sea of energy, it is a ripple on its surface, a comparatively small pattern of excitation in the midst of an unimaginably vast ocean. This excitation pattern is relatively autonomous and gives rise to approximately recurrent, stable and separable projections into a three-dimensional explicate order of manifestation. Every cubic centimeter of empty space contains more energy than the total energy of all the matter in the known universe. The concepts presented in this book are a cornerstone of Quanta-Gaia.Hierarchical Neural Networks and Brainwaves: Towards a Theory of Consciousness by Dejan Rakovic, 1997- Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade, 1997. The only mechanism that can account for the extremely dilated subjective time base in altered states of consciousness is the relativistic biophysical one, if only the “subjective” observer can be associated with an EM field of the ultralowfrequency (ULF) brainwaves which can move through the brain with relativistic velocities, as it was extensively elaborated in our biophysical model of altered states of consciousness [14,15]. However, it is necessary that complete information (both conscious and unconscious) be permanently coded from neural network to brainwaves, as a spatio-temporal pattern resulting from changes of the synaptic interconnections in the neural networks of the brain.Consciousness in the Cosmos: Part I – The Third Concept of Consciousness by Ervin Laszlo (2014) Consciousness Studies Magazine – Is consciousness generated in and confined to the brain? – or does it extend in some way beyond the brain – and could it even be a fundamental feature of the cosmos? Until a few years ago nobody other than deeply spiritual or religious people would have subscribed to a concept of consciousness other than what I call the “turbine theory”: the theory that the brain generates consciousness, and the consciousness it generates is confined to the brain. Today there is more and more evidence that consciousness is not confined to the brain but is “nonlocal”, embracing minds and events beyond the brain and the body. And there is an insight dawning among avant-garde scientists, thinkers and spiritual people that consciousness may be not only nonlocal, but cosmicBiophotons And The Universal Light Code William F. Hamilton and Raymond Powers 2004 I’ve been reading a book “The Field” by Lynne McTaggert… “Biophotons, or ultra weak photon emissions of biological systems, are weak electromagnetic waves in the optical range of the spectrum – in other words: light. All living cells of plants, animals and human beings emit biophotons which cannot be seen by the naked eye but can be measured by special equipment developed by German researchers. This light emission is an expression of the functional state of the living organism and its measurement therefore can be used to assess this state. Cancer cells and healthy cells of the same type, for instance, can be discriminated by typical differences in biophoton emission. There are so many ramifications to the study of biophotonic emissions that it is difficult to elucidate at this time. Biophoton studies seem to indicate that the emission is coherent and that biophotons may be modulated and communicate information not only throughout the body but into the extended environment. It may be the process by which DNA actually communicates its information to protein molecules in the process of morphogenesis. It may have relevance to extra-sensory modes of communication with other life forms and explain many mysteries of life. It is possible that biophotons may even be carriers of psi information and that a coherent coupling can be established between two conscious life forms resulting in a transference of information from a higher potential field to a field at lower potential. Even though this is conjecture at this point, it suggests other means by which disparate life forms can communicate.Bioelectromagnetics: Energy Medicine – A Challenge for Science by Beverly Rubik – Noetic Sciences Review, Winter 1993, pages 37-39The Luminous Universe by Sean Carroll. Most of the photons in the universe are actually not emitted by stars, gas, or any other object in the contemporary universe. Rather, they are the low-energy photons left over from the Big Bang. This relic radiation is primarily in the microwave region of the spectrum, and is known as the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). Photons from the CMB pervade space, providing a background buzz that serves as a constant reminder of the hot, dense state in which our universe began.Neutrinos are tiny particles that can plow through the center of the Earth without even a hint of a whisper. Every second, billions of them rain down (and up) from outer space. However, rock or seawater will stop a neutrino now and then, creating a shower of elementary particles called muons. Muons are similar to electrons but heavier. Neutrinos are subatomic particles with no electric charge and very little mass. They are extremely hard to study because they have a very low probability of interacting with the rest of the world. According to the standard theory, neutrinos arose in large numbers out of the fires of the Big Bang. These so-called “background” neutrinos still exist: with 2,500 of them inhabiting every cubic inch of the universe.Photons of visible light have about 2 electron volts (ev), while medical x-ray photons may have energies of 50,000 ev and those of gamma rays reach 1,000,000 ev and even more. The arrival of (say) 50,000 ev x-rayy photons from space is evidence of particles with at least that much energy, often much more, since each photon comes from a single particle.Introduction to Biophotonics Dr. Paras Prasad, Institute for Lasers, Photonics and Biophotonics, University at Buffalo, USA Dr. Prasad published “Introduction to Biophotonics,” the first monograph in this field, which authoritatively defines the field, details its scope and identifies emerging opportunities. In addition to ordinary photons, numerous other kinds of particles are constantly bombarding the Earth: protons (and atomic nuclei) that make up cosmic rays, ultra-light neutral particles known as neutrinos, and the gravitational equivalent of electromagnetic waves, known simply as gravitational waves. Cosmic rays have proven to be an invaluable window onto energetic processes in the universe, leading to important insights into particle physics (such as the discovery of the muon, a heavier cousin of the electron); today, the origin of the highest-energy cosmic rays remains a deep mystery. Neutrinos from astrophysical sources have likewise led to significant discoveries; it was the shortage of neutrinos emitted from the Sun which gave the first clue that these particles might have small masses, rather than being strictly massless.Biophotons and Quantum Processes R.P.Bajpai, Institute of Self-Organising Systems and Biophysics, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, India – rpbajpai@yahoo.com – Possibility of photon emission in the fundamental biological processes involving quantum search of base pairs and amino acids. It is suggested that the photons emanating from the quantum processes are biophotons. The suggestion can explain various features of biophoton signals hitherto considered strange. A biophoton signal is ultra weak in strength because the signal emanates from a macroscopic assembly of molecules. It is ubiquitous and incessant because the fundamental biological processes of DNA replication and protein synthesis occur continuously in all living systems. Who knows some persons with heightened consciousness properties are simply biological detectors of the quantum state of entangled photons? Perhaps, some non-human living systems also have similar capabilities.Journal of Consciousness Studies Presenting serious peer-reviewed scientific and humanistic papers in non-technical language including philosophical critiques of contemporary research. The Roots of Consciousness Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD- “A photon, when it is annihilated, is able to create particles of matter and anti-matter which have both mass, charge, and time, such as electrons and positrons, or protons and anti-protons. It is tempting to suggest that these particles with their charges represent the principle of desire or attraction, which in the Vedic myth arose from the One.”Anthony Freeman (Editor of the Journal of Conscious Studies) in his book Consciousness: A Guide to the Debates says: “Von Neumann, and those physicists such as Eugene Wigner (1902-1995) and Henry Stapp, who followed his lead, drew the inference that there is no logical end to the chain of events in a quantum experiment until the point of recognition of a measurement in a conscious observer’s mind. He therefore amended the standard Copenhagen interpretation-which says, remember, that the quantum world can only be understood in relation to the classical world of measuring instruments-to say that not just any recorded measurement but only conscious observation could precipitate physical actuality out of quantum possibility. Von Neumann thus concluded that, if there was indeed a collapse of the wave function-by which we mean a point at which the quantum wave of possibility became an actual fact in the world of classical objects-then that collapse had to be identified with the moment of conscious observation. The mere moment of a photon striking a screen and causing a blip could not be the vital reality-creating moment, because without a conscious observer to interpret it, that blip was not an observation or a measurement, but just another meaningless collision of subatomic particles.Quantum Consciousness Quantum consciousness (sometimes called quantum mind) is the idea that consciousness requires quantum processes, as opposed the view of mainstream neurobiology in which the function of the brain is wholly classical, and quantum processes play no computational role…provides references to a substantial number of theoretical papers.Quantum Theory H. D. Zeh (2000) “To most of these states, however, the true physical carrier of consciousness somewhere in the brain may still represent an external observer system, with whom they have to interact in order to be perceived. Regardless of whether the ultimate observer systems are quasi-classical or possess essential quantum aspects, consciousness can only be related to factor states (of systems assumed to be localized in the brain) that appear in branches (robust components) of the global wave function — provided the Schrodinger equation is exact. Environmental decoherence represents entanglement (but not any ‘distortion’ – of the brain, in this case), while ensembles of wave functions, representing various potential (unpredictable) outcomes, would require a dynamical collapse (that has never been observed).”Energy From the Vacume Tom Bearden philosophical archives- documentary film THE MOTIONLESS ELECTROMAGNETIC GENERATOR: HOW IT WORKS

University of Washington, Seattle, WA.Aspect and Grinberg-Zylberbaum experiments: Biological Nonlocality and the Mind-Brain Interaction Problem- Comments on a New Empirical Approach by Fred Thaheld. Up to now we have been faced with an age old fundamental dilemma posed by the mindbrain interaction problem, i.e., how is it that the mind which is subjective and immaterial, can interact with the brain which is objective and material? Analysis of recent experiments appears to indicate that quantum mechanics may have a role to play in the resolution of the mind-brain interaction problem in the form of biological entanglement and nonlocality.Shadows of the Mind: A Search for the Missing Science of Consciousness- Roger Penrose, Oxford Uriversity Press, 1994.
In the 1960’s he collaborated with Stephen W. Hawking of the University of Cambridge in showing that singularities-objects so crushed by their own weight that they become infinitely dense, beyond the ken of classical physics-are not only possible but inevitable under many circumstances. This work helped to push black holes from the outer limits of astrophysics to the center.Making Sense of Bell’s Theorem and Quantum Nonlocality (PDF Available) by S. P. Boughn (2017) Abstract: Bell’s theorem has fascinated physicists and philosophers since his 1964 paper, which was written in response to the 1935 paper of Einstein, Podolsky, and Rosen. Bell’s theorem and its many extensions have led to the claim that quantum mechanics and by inference nature herself are nonlocal in the sense that a measurement on a system by an observer at one location has an immediate effect on a distant “entangled” system (one with which the original system has previously interacted). Einstein was repulsed by such “spooky action at a distance” and was led to question whether quantum mechanics could provide a complete description of physical reality. In this paper I argue that quantum mechanics does not require spooky action at a distance of any kind and yet it is entirely reasonable to question the assumption that quantum mechanics can provide a complete description of physical reality. The magic of entangled quantum states has little to do with entanglement and everything to do with superposition, a property of all quantum systems and a foundational tenet of quantum mechanicsAre Electrons Conscious? Consciousness and Fundamental Reality by Philip Goff (2017) For most of the twentieth century a “brain-first” approach dominated the philosophy of consciousness. The idea was that the brain is the thing we really understand, through neuroscience, and the task of the philosopher is try to understand how that thing “gives rise” to subjective experience: to the inner world of colors, smells and sounds that each of us knows in our own case. This philosophical project has not gone all that well – nobody has provided even the beginnings of a satisfying solution to what David Chalmers called “the hard problem” of consciousness. Against Neuro-Fundamentalism Some philosophers – I call them “neuro-fundamentalists” – think the only way to make progress on consciousness is to do more neuroscience. These philosophers have an exceedingly limited view of how science operates, as though it’s simply a matter of doing the experiments and recording the data. In fact, many significant developments in science have arisen not from experimental findings in the lab but from a radical reconceptualization of our picture of the universe formulated from the comfort of an armchair. Think of the move in the Minkowski interpretation of special relativity from thinking of space and time as distinct things to the postulation of the single unified entity of spacetime, or Galileo’s separation of the primary and the secondary qualities which paved the way for mathematical physics. My hunch is that progress on consciousness, as well of course as involving neuroscience, will involve this kind of radical reconceptualization of the mind, the brain, and the relationship between them. Russellian monism looks to be a promising framework in which to do this.Consciousness Beyond Life The Science of the Near-Death Experience by Pim van Lommel, M. D. (free eBook) – For me it all started with curiosity – with asking questions, with seeking to explain certain objective findings and subjective experiences. Learning about near-death experience raised a number of fundamental questions for me. An NDE is a special state of consciousness that occurs during an imminent or actual period of physical, psychological, or emotional death. How and why does an NDE occur? How does the content of an NDE come about? Why does an NDE bring about such profound changes in someone’s life?BACK TO COSMIC ELECTROMAGNETIC MATRIXBACK to MYSTICAL EXPERIENCEMAYA-GAIA INTRODUCTION & SITEMAP
