Note:My Anthropic Trilogy web-book, evolving since 1997, is a chronicle of my passing all considered opinion
through the lens of my Nirvikalpa Samadhi with both an open-mind and healthy skepticism.
Are there any cosmological metaphors in Upanishads or other bodies of sacred Vedic or non dual texts or in the phenomenological or ontology of contemporary philosophers for integrating theories of dark energy that suggest a science/spirituality synthesis? Are Science’s explanations of discovery of dark matter and energy no more than a ‘god of the gaps’ approach that materialists/physicalists argue is the basis of non dual reality paradigms and why they insist such ontological constructs have no scientific value?
Is there any evidence for how the most profound mysteries of reality –
consciousness and dark matter and energy, may be related?
Although there were elements in my Nivikalpa Samadhi journey that revealed features for an esoteric conscious cosmology (with synchronicity to metaphors in the Katha Upanishad) – there was nothing that provided insight directly related to the concept of dark energy. The feature that came closest to a relationship to a cosmological hypothesis was the moment at the end of my samadhi return when the energy stream was about to inject me into a visable funnel-tube. The filamentous funnel opening appeared to pierce a transparent membrane that stretched in two dimensions to infinity – suggesting a divide between physical and astral reality that could be taken to relate to the Brane Cosmology Theory. There was also the uncertainty in my non dual state whether “my” felt love actually communed with ‘other remote systems’ or that I later extrapolated my direct memory of the felt experience and imagined it in the context of love needing an object.
We might want to recognize that some scientific concepts are “a reality beyond metaphor”, as Nobel laureate David Baltimore, a biologist at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, has said of DNA3. At the very least, metaphor should be admitted into science only after strict examination. We ought to heed the warning of pioneering cyberneticists Arturo Rosenblueth and Norbert Wiener that “the price of metaphor is eternal vigilance”.
What is Dark Matter? Quora answer by Leo C. Stein – Dark matter is the name given to additional mass whose presence is inferred only from gravitational attraction but which does not interact with light. It accounts for roughly 25% of the energy density of the universe. Dark matter is presumed to be a massive (~100 GeV scale) particle which is basically non-interacting except through gravity. There are several ongoing efforts to directly or indirectly detect the presumed dark matter particle. Reasons we believe in dark matter…more.
What is Dark Energy? Quora answer by Leo C. Stein – Dark energy is the name given to a class of possibilities to explain the late time acceleration of the expansion of the universe. It accounts for roughly 70% of the energy density of the universe. There are several dark energy models. The simplest is a “cosmological constant”, but other options are vacuum energy, quintessence, and more. Most of these models predict that dark energy does not vary spatially, and so it is difficult to distinguish the models…more.Dark Energy ScienceDark Energy ConsciousnessDark Energy Ontology
“Where from do all these worlds come? They come from space. All beings arise from space, and into space they return: space is indeed their beginning, and space is their final end.” The Upanishads, Hindu Scriptures“It was not possible to formulate the laws of quantum mechanics in a fully consistent way without reference to consciousness.” Eugene Wigner, Nobel laureate in physics“Everything we call real is made of things that cannot be regarded as real.” Niels Bohr, Nobel Laureate in Physics and One of the Founding “Fathers” of Quantum Theory“If you can see it, if you can touch it, if you can taste it, if you can smell it, if it is solid, if you can think about it, if you can conceptualize it, if you can visualize it, then – it is not real.” Buddha, ~2500 years ago“What we perceive through the senses as empty space . . . is the ground for the existence of everything, including ourselves. The things that appear to our senses are derivative forms and their true meaning can be seen only when we consider the plenum, in which they are generated and sustained, and into which they must ultimately vanish.” David Bohm, Quantum Physicist and Developer of Modern Quantum Mechanics“I do not like [quantum mechanics], and I am sorry I ever had anything to do with it.” Erwin Schrödinger, Nobel laureate and Creator of the Schrödinger Wave Equation, lamenting the metaphysical (probabilistic) nature of quantum mechanics.“We are not only observers. The First Glimpse of the Hidden Cosmos National Geographic Magazine Jan. 2015 by Timothy Ferris. Cosmologists have now concluded…that all the stars and galaxies they see in the sky make up only 5 percent of the observable universe. The invisible majority consists of 27 percent dark matter and 68 percent dark energy. Both of them are mysteries. When quantum theorists try to calculate how much energy resides in, say a quart of seemingly empty space, they get a big number. But astronomers calculating the same quantity from their dark energy observations get a small number. The difference between the two numbers is staggering: it’s ten to the 121st power, a one followed by 121 zeroes, an amount far exceeding the number of stars in the observable universe or grains of sand on the planet. That’s the largest disparity between theory and observation in the entire history of science. Clearly something fundamentally important about space -and therefore about everything, since galaxies, stars, planets, and people are made mostly of space – remains to be learned. Individual photons can be detected by several methods. The classic photomultiplier tube exploits the photoelectric effect: a photon landing on a metal plate ejects an electron, initiating an ever-amplifying avalanche of electrons. Charge-coupled device chips use a similar effect in semiconductors: an incident photon generates a charge on a microscopic capacitor that can be detected. Other detectors such as Geiger counters use the ability of photons to ionize gas molecules, causing a detectable change in conductivity.

Discovery of the Fifth Dimension by Dr. Henryk Frystacki, 2013. The repetition sequences of a fifth dimension replace the parallel universes of the string theory by the innumerable superposition of only one and the same universe. Additional dimensions explain gravity in a very simple way by our inverted perception of negative space dimensions and relative backward movement of time. They even provide a feasible concept for hidden areas of the universe`s expanding dark energy and the galaxies` stabilizing dark matter. More uncertainties arise about the reality of subatomic particles and the nature of quantum mechanics, string theory, loop quantum gravity and other physical constructs and whether they are epistemologies or ontologies or both. Has science begun a synthesis where consciousness intersects with a holistic view of physical reality?
The Millennium Simulation traces the evolution of the matter distribution in a cubic region of the Universe over 2 billion light-years on a side. Virgo scientists have been able to recreate evolutionary histories both for the 20 million or so galaxies which populate this enormous volume and for the supermassive black holes which occasionally power quasars at their hearts. By comparing such simulated data to large observational surveys, one can clarify the physical processes underlying the buildup of real galaxies and black holes. The Higgs boson or Higgs particle is an elementary particle initially theorised in 1964, and tentatively confirmed to exist on 14 March, 2013. The discovery has been called “monumental” because it appears to confirm the existence of the Higgs field, which is pivotal to the Standard Model and other theories within particle physics. In this discipline, it explains why some fundamental particles have mass when the symmetries controlling their interactions should require them to be massless, and – linked to this – why the weak force has a much shorter range than the electromagnetic force. Its existence and knowledge of its exact properties are expected to impact scientific knowledge across a range of fields, and should eventually allow physicists to determine whether the Standard Model or a competing theory is more likely to be correct, guide other theories and discoveries in particle physics, and – as with other fundamental discoveries of the past – potentially over time lead to developments in “new” physics, and new technologies.

The new boson seems to cast so little light on the missing pieces.” [Hitoshi Murayama of the University of California-Berkeley]

Educational Science Reality Check by Werner Thurau. The implications of quantum mechanics are so outrageous and counterintuitive that physicists for the most part have ignored them and concentrated instead on the highly successful mathematical explanations of events and their experimental proofs. Quantum mechanics is the most successful system in physics today. None of its predictions has ever been proved wrong. It has become the bedrock of the modern science. Yet it states flatly that observation not only marks the behaviour of the object observed, it also brings it into existence. As one eminent quantum cosmologist put it: “No microscopic property is a property until it is an observed property”. Before the observation, there was no object, but after the observation the object existed for everyone else also. The view of modern physics maintains that a hypothesis, no matter how many times it is proved right, will always remain nothing more than a hypothesis, which might be overturned the next day by new facts or arguments.
Dark Energy Wikipedia In physical cosmology and astronomy, dark energy is a hypothetical form of energy that permeates all of space and tends to accelerate the expansion of the universe. Dark energy is the most accepted hypothesis to explain observations since the 1990s that indicate that the universe is expanding at an accelerating rate. According to the Planck mission team, and based on the standard model of cosmology, the total mass-energy of the universe contains 4.9% ordinary matter, 26.8% dark matter and 68.3% dark energy
Dark Matter Wikipedia In Astronomy and Cosmology dark matter is a type of matter hypothesized to constitute 84.5% of the total matter in the universe and 26.8% of the total content of the universe. Dark matter cannot be seen directly with telescopes; evidently it neither emits nor absorbs light or other electromagnetic radiation at any significant level. Instead, its existence and properties are inferred from its gravitational effects on visible matter, radiation, and the large-scale structure of the universe.
Lambda-CDM model Wikipedia The CDM or Lambda-CDM model is a parametrization of the Big Bang cosmological model in which the universe contains a cosmological constant, denoted by Lambda, and cold dark matter. It is frequently referred to as the standard model of Big Bang cosmology, since it is the simplest model that provides a reasonably good match to current areas of research in cosmology.. The model assumes that general relativity is the correct theory of gravity on cosmological scales. The CDM model is extended by adding cosmological inflation, quintessence, and other elements that are Some alternative models challenge the assumptions of the CDM model, such as modified Newtonian dynamics, modified gravity, and large-scale variations in the matter density of the universe. Lambda-CDM, Accelerated Expansion of the Universe. The time-line in this schematic diagram extends from the big bang/inflation era 13.7 Gyr ago to the present cosmological time.
More Messy Dark Matter by Sean Carroll blog, 2013. Longtime readers know that I’m fascinated by the possibility that dark matter is “interesting”. Of course dark matter is by its very nature interesting, but I’m referring to the idea that the dark matter isn’t simply a single neutral particle with a negligible rate of interaction in the current universe, but rather a set of one or more kinds of particles with some noticeable forces acting between them. Friends of mine and I have investigated the idea of dark photons – dark matter being charged under a new “dark force” resembling ordinary electromagnetism. The next obvious step is dark atoms – two different kinds of charged dark particles that can join together in atom-like bound states. These ideas, it turns out, are fairly compatible with what we know about the dynamics of dark matter in the real universe.

A New Cosmological Model for Matter, Energy, Sound, the Origin of the Universe and Gravity by Madonna-Megara Overview: This article defines a new fabric for space and hypothesizes that matter is formed from this fabric through the agency of Black Holes. Dark sound is theorized. As a consequence of this hypothesis a new model for the origin of the universe is given including new definitions for Black Holes, Dark Matter, and Dark Energy. Neutral electricity, cosmic planes and sub planes are defined. New processes for the coalescing of atoms, the rotation of planets and the observed phenomena of Cosmic Fire are given. Gravity is defined as the result of magnetism and chemical bonds between structures.

Pure logical thinking cannot yield us any knowledge of the empirical world; all knowledge of reality starts from experience and ends in it.[A. A direct empirical proof of the existence of dark matter by Douglas Clowe (1), Marusa Bradac (2), Anthony H. Gonzalez (3), Maxim Markevitch (4), Scott W. Randall (4), Christine Jones (4), Dennis Zaritsky (1) ((1) Steward Observatory, Tucson, (2) KIPAC, Stanford, (3) Department of Astronomy, Gainesville, (4) CfA, Cambridge) (Submitted on 19 Aug 2006) We present new weak lensing observations of 1E0657-558 (z=0.296), a unique cluster merger, that enable a direct detection of dark matter, independent of assumptions regarding the nature of the gravitational force law. Due to the collision of two clusters, the dissipationless stellar component and the fluid-like X-ray emitting plasma are spatially segregated. By using both wide-field ground based images and HST/ACS images of the cluster cores, we create gravitational lensing maps which show that the gravitational potential does not trace the plasma distribution, the dominant baryonic mass component, but rather approximately traces the distribution of galaxies. An 8-sigma significance spatial offset of the center of the total mass from the center of the baryonic mass peaks cannot be explained with an alteration of the gravitational force law, and thus proves that the majority of the matter in the system is unseen.
Rare Galaxy Found Without Any Dark Matter by Loren Grush, 2018 It just has boring, regular visable matter in it. Millions of light-years from Earth, there’s a galaxy that is completely devoid of dark matter – the mysterious, unseen material that is thought to permeate the Universe. Instead, the galaxy seems to be made up of just regular ol’ matter, the kind that comprises stars, planets, and dust. That makes this galaxy a rare find, and its discovery opens up new possibilities for how dark matter is distributed throughout the cosmos. No one knows what dark matter is. True to its name, the material doesn’t emit light, so we’ve never detected it directly. All scientists know is that it’s out there based on their observations of how galaxies and stars move.

Dark Matter Distribution Simulation Map The filamentary nature (cosmic web) of dark matter in a volume of the universe, from a simulation produced with the ChaNGA code. In this image, the universe is only 3.5 billion years old. Brighter points indicate denser regions. The volume is 81.5 million light years (25 megaparsecs) per side, and contains 2 billion dark matter particles. Dense knots indicate highly dense regions where galaxies form and cluster together. Andrew Pontzen, University College London. Results and Impact: The high-resolution simulations already produced by our collaboration have revolutionized scientists’ view of galaxy formation. We have discovered that when supernovae occur in the high-density regions where stars are born, their energy can be transferred to dark matter, pushing the dark matter out of the center of galaxies.
Baking a Universe. By Benjamin Skuse – Cosmologists are shining a light on the universe’s mysteries by adding an unassuming ingredient to simulations: ordinary matter. When you go to bake a cake, the first ingredients you grab are the eggs and flour. But it’s the muscovado suagar, the vanilla pod, or maybe the orange zest that really determines what kind of cake you end up with. Similarly, until recently, most cosmological only the big main ingredients – dark matter and gravity. Dark matter is computationally “simple”, immune to everything but gravity. So, limited by how many calculations their supercomputers could run simultaneously, researchers have long chosen to use just dark matter and gravity and assume that “normal” follows along…Now, astrononomers are discovering that the solution to understanding what’s really going on in the universe lies with the very thing they were leaving out: ordinary matter.
Convincing a Young Scientist that Dark Matter Exists by Ethan on June 24, 2010. “The Universe is made mostly of dark matter and dark energy, and we don’t know what either of them is.” -Saul Perlmutter, Before the collision, gravity, stars, and gas all lined up. After the collision, the gas (which is where most of the normal matter is) doesn’t line up with the stars. But gravity does. This only works if there’s some extra type of matter that doesn’t smash together and collide like normal matter (i.e., protons, neutrons, and electrons) does. Before the collision, gravity, stars, and gas all lined up. After the collision, the gas (which is where most of the normal matter is) doesn’t line up with the stars. But gravity does. And that’s what convinced me that dark matter’s a far better explanation than anything else out there for what’s going on, gravitationally, in the Universe.

Dark Matter Filaments Nancy Atkinson is Universe Today’s Senior Editor. Earlier this year, astronomers using the Hubble Space Telescope were able to identify a slim filament of dark matter that appeared to be binding a pair of distant galaxies together. Now, another filament has been found, and scientists a have been able to produce a 3-D view of the filament, the first time ever that the difficult-to-detect dark matter has been able to be measured in such detail. Their results suggest the filament has a high mass and, the researchers say, that if these measurements are representative of the rest of the Universe, then these structures may contain more than half of all the mass in the Universe.
Finding a Home in the Cosmos Smithsonian magazine, July 2006 by Jerry Adler. In a new book written with his wife, Nancy Abrams, cosmologist Joel Primack argues that the universe, far from being a meaningless void, was meant for us. Sort of. Primack was a particle physicist who became interested in cosmology in the late 1970s, coinciding with the field’s transformation by inflation theory and supersymmetry – the latter a theory that relates the properties of particles of force and matter, giving rise to predictions about invisible, or “dark,” matter with not even a convincing conjecture about the nature of “dark energy”. The center of the universe is not, of course, a geometric point in space, but a metaphor for humanity’s place in the cosmos and the authors’ intent is to relate these discoveries to the macroscopic, earthbound realm of human perception as a meditation on our place in a universe of visably known, unknown and perhaps unknowable mystery.
Matter and Energy: A False Dichotomy Conversations Of Particular Significance About Science with Theoretical Physicist Matt Strassler, 2012 It is common that, when reading about the universe or about particle physics, one will come across a phrase that somehow refers to “matter and energy”, as though they are opposites, or partners, or two sides of a coin, or the two classes out of which everything is made. This comes up in many contexts. Sometimes one sees poetic language describing the Big Bang as the creation of all the “matter and energy” in the universe. One reads of “matter and anti-matter annihilating into ‘pure’ energy.” And of course two of the great mysteries of astronomy are “dark matter” and “dark energy”. In each of these contexts a different definition for ‘matter is being used, and a different meaning – in some cases an archaic or even incorrect meaning of ‘energy’ – is employed. And each of these ways of speaking implies that either things are matter or they are energy – which is false.

Hubble Helps Build Most-Detailed Dark Matter Map Yet By Lisa Grossman, 2010
Cluster Lensing And Supernova survey with Hubble The Universe has proven to be far more intriguing in its composition than we knew it to be. It is a “dark” Universe where 23% of its mass-energy density is made up of weakly interacting (and, as yet, undetected) non-baryonic particles (a.k.a. dark matter) and 73% is as yet unknown physics (a.k.a. dark energy) that is driving an accelerated expansion. To shed new light on these mysteries, we are coupling the gravitational lensing power of 25 massive galaxy clusters with HST’s newly enhanced panchromatic imaging capabilities (WFC3 and the restored ACS) to test structure formation models with unprecedented precision. We have dubbed our program “CLASH” for: Cluster Lensing And Supernova survey with Hubble.
Milky Way ‘is a massive wormhole’ by Hannah Osborne, 2015 Paolo Salucci, a dark matter expert and astrophysicist of the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) of Trieste, has suggested an alternative theory about dark matter and the universe. The Milky Way could be a huge galactic transport system, with dark matter “another dimension”. Wormholes – also known as space time tunnels and Einstein-Penrose bridges – have been the subject of astrophysicists’ research for many years. They are a hypothetical feature that would provide a shortcut through space time – each end would be separate points. In their study, published in the Annals of Physics, Salucci and his co-authors combined the equations of general relativity with a detailed map of the distribution of dark matter in the Milky Way. “If we combine the map of the dark matter in the Milky Way with the most recent Big Bang model to explain the universe and we hypothesize the existence of space-time tunnels, what we get is that our galaxy could really contain one of these tunnels, and that the tunnel could even be the size of the galaxy itself. See video.
Ambitious Hubble Survey Obtaining New Dark Matter Census 10/13/2011 The multi-wavelength survey, called the Cluster Lensing And Supernova survey with Hubble (CLASH), probes, with unparalleled precision, the distribution of dark matter in 25 massive clusters of galaxies. Observations of this galaxy cluster, MACS J1206.2-0847, or MACS 1206 for short, will allow astronomers to construct the most detailed dark matter maps of more galaxy clusters than ever before. MACS 1206 lies 4 billion light-years from Earth. Hubble’s keen vision helped CLASH astronomers uncover 47 multiple images of 12 newly identified faraway galaxies. Credit: NASA, ESA, M. Postman (STScI), and the CLASH Team. Dark matter makes up the bulk of the universe’s mass, yet it can only be detected by measuring how its gravity tugs on visible matter and warps space like a fun house mirror so that the light from distant objects is distorted. Galaxy clusters like MACS 1206 are perfect laboratories for studying dark matter’s gravitational effects because they are the most massive structures in the universe. Because of their heft, the clusters act like giant cosmic lenses, magnifying, distorting and bending any light that passes through them – an effect known as gravitational lensing. Hubble is only able to record/detect the effects of dark matter on visible matter rather than directly observe dark matter.

Consciousness in a Cockroach? The insect nervous system provides clues to attention, consciousness, and the origin of the brain. by Douglas Fox – Discover Jan 2007. Over the past 35 years, neurobiologists at the University of Arizona have probed the minute brain structure of cockroaches, water bugs, velvet worms, brine shrimp and dozens of other invertebrates and small mammals. Using microscopes, tweezers and hand built electronic and nano devices in vibration-insulated mini-labs, researchers tease apart – ever so gently – the cell by cell working of brain structures the size of several grains of salt. From the years of tedious analysis their conclusion: “Insects possess the most sophisticated brains on this planet”. Further – that brains of all animal life, from insects, crabs, fish, amphibians, birds, reptiles, mammals and yes, humans may have a single bilaterally symmetrical ancestor called Urbilateralwhose brain evolved and survived in a unique synchronicity a billion or more years ago. The inference as to what constitutes consciousness and the degree that lower life forms have in conscious commonality with human cognition, may provide insight into the greatest mystery and challenge facing science today – the role of consciousness in perceiving and/or creating reality.
Fullness in Emptiness: From the Quantum Vacume to the Infinite Self youtube video by Menas Kafatos – Science and Nonduality Conference, 2013. It appears that all the visible matter in the universe makes up only 4% of whatever there is. The rest may be dark matter and even more (repulsive) dark energy. Not only is the vacuum full of stuff, it is full of dark stuff! The quantum vacuum may even be involved in living and even brain processes. This would not be surprising, if everything physical owes its existence to the vacuum, shouldn’t (those who follow a physicalist view of the cosmos would agree) then even life and consciousness ultimately be tied to the vacuum? It is all in the emptiness. For us, seeking a non-dualist paradigm, these statements about the quantum vacuum, point to something else that is vast, empty, beyond thoughts, while at the same time being the source of all thoughts, all object awareness, blissful awareness in Being, manifesting throughout the universe.
Old Dark Matter Theory Resurrected by Michael Byrne, – There is still no clear and commonly accepted explanation for why the universe formed, how consciousness emerged from what appears to be purely physical sources (the “hard question of consciousness”), and what quantum physics is saying about the nature of reality. In short, a “theory of everything” remains elusive, and a reliable bridge between science and religion has yet to be built. Physicist-cosmologist Stephen Hawking’s recent conclusion that “Because there is a law such as gravity, the Universe can and will create itself from nothing” – it is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the Universe going” (from his new book The Grand Design) suggests no such bridge but has kept the spotlight on this creative tension.
The Quantum Hologram And the Nature of Consciousness by Dr. Edgar D. Mitchell, and Robert Staretz, M.S. (Originally printed in the Journal of Cosmology, 2011, Vol. 14.) Abstract: We present a new model of information processing in nature called the Quantum Hologram. Our Evidence suggests that QH is also a model that describes the basis for consciousness. It explains how living organisms know and use whatever information they know and utilize. It elevates the role of information in nature to the same fundamental status as that of matter and energy. We speculate that QH seems to be nature’s built-in vast information storage and retrieval mechanism and one that has been used since the beginning of time. This would promote QH as a theory which is basis for explaining how the whole of creation learns, self-corrects and evolves as a self-organizing, interconnected holistic system.

Uniting Cosmos and Consciousness. Harvard-Smithsonian Astrophysicist Dr. Rudy Schild Proposes New Scientific Model – What scientists are now calling dark energy has long been known to exist. It has been given such names as the Akashic field, prana and chi among many others. Because of Dr. Schild’s work, black holes are now beginning to be understood in a completely different way. His recent astrophysical observations of black holes – or what he now calls (Magnetic Eternally Collapsing Objects or MECO for short – indicate that the information contained in quantum holograms is stored up at the relativistic surfaces of the MECO objects. And it appears that this information is theoretically retrievable using quantum nonlocality.
Astronomer Rudy Schild offers a modified understanding of consciousness, memory, and dreaming that seems to explain many “modern miracles” or anomalous phenomena such as Out-of-Body and Near-Death Experiences, precognition, past life experiences, remote viewing and UFO sightings. In his view, the dark energy that has always been known to exist can now be understood as being at the basis of many anomalous experiences. In addition, Dr. Schild believes that his new model suggests that our minds can receive, amplify, and transmit this energy and thereby connect what human beings call the “soul” to its “Source” or “Creator.”

Mysticism and the New Physics by Michael Talbot, 1990. One of three books (indirectly anticipating the concept of dark energy) by Talbot exploring speculative physics–advances that bridge the chasm between new science, consciousness, mysticism, metaphysics and faith. Other books: Beyond the Quantum, 1987 and The Holographic Universe 1992 – the last presenting the Implicate Order theory of two of the world’s most eminent thinkers — University of London physicists David Bohm, a former protege of Einstein’s and one of the world’s most respected quantum physicists, and Stanford neurophysiologist Karl Pribram, one of the architects of our modern understanding of the brain –who believe that the universe itself may be a giant hologram, quite literally a kind of image or construct created, at least in part, by the human mind.
An interpretation of quantum mechanics is a set of statements which attempt to explain how quantum mechanics informs our understanding of nature. Although quantum mechanics has held up to rigorous and thorough experimental testing, many of these experiments are open to different interpretations. There exist a number of contending schools of thought, differing over whether quantum mechanics can be understood to be deterministic, which elements of quantum mechanics can be considered “real”, and other matters.
Integral Theory by Ken Wilber,2013. (IT) and Critical Realism (CR) share many items in common, but there are some deep differences as well. To begin with, CR separates epistemology and ontology, and makes ontology the level of the “real” – whereas, for IT, epistemology and ontology cannot so be fragmented and fractured, but rather are two correlative dimensions of every Whole occasion (part of the tetra-dimension of every holon). Realism maintains that there are ontological realities that are not dependent upon humans or human theories – including much of the level of the “real” -including items such as atoms, molecules, cells, etc. – and IT agrees, with one important difference: IT is panpsychic (a term I’m not fond of, preferring “pan-interiorist” – meaning all beings have interiors or proto-consciousness, a la Whitehead, Peirce, Leibnitz, etc.) to wit, atoms do not depend upon being known by humans, but they do depend upon being known by each other.
The Undivided Universe: An Ontological Interpretation of Quantum Theory (Google eBook) David Bohm, Basil J. Hiley, 1995. Bohm, one of the foremost scientific thinkers of our time, and Hiley present a completely original approach to quantum theory which will alter our understanding of the world and reveal that a century of modern physics needs to be reconsidered.
Identity in Physics: A Historical, Philosophical, and Formal Analysis by Steven French and Decio Krause, 2006. One of French and Krause’s achievements is to have unpicked the ways in which different aspects of nonindividuality have been elided or distinguished by physicists and philosophers working in this field. A first issue arises from indiscernibility: modern physics commits us to all sorts of intrinsically indiscernible entities. This is partly because, as it turns out, there are relatively few determinable intrinsics (e.g. mass, charge, spin) and partly because fundamental entities exemplify only a few determinate values of those determinables (e.g. all electrons have the same negative charge).
Is Quantum Physics an Epistemology or an Ontology? excerpts from physics forum “The conception of objective reality of the elementary particles has thus evaporated not into the cloud of some obscure new reality concept but into the transparent clarity of a mathematics that represents no longer the behaviour of particles but rather our knowledge of this behaviour.
Dark Energy Ontology“Through our eyes, the universe is perceiving itself. Through our ears, the universe is listening to its harmonies. We are the witnesses through which the universe becomes conscious of its glory, of its magnificence.” – Alan Watts
Nicolai Hartmann distinguishes among ontology, ontics, and metaphysics: (i) ontology concerns the categorical analysis of entities by means of the knowledge categories able to classify them. (ii) ontics refers to a pre-categorical and pre-objectual connection which is best expressed in the relation to transcendent acts and (iii) metaphysics is that part of ontics or that part of ontology which concerns the residue of being that cannot be rationalized further according to categories.
Vedic Dark Energy Pioneers Hindu literatures like Veda and Geeta are more a Scientific Philosophy than religious scripts. To have proper clarity you should go through the words of different Noble laureates – Werner Karl Heisenberg: “One can not always distinguish between statements made by eastern metaphysics based on mystical insight, and pronouncements of modern physics based on observations, experiments and mathematical calculations.”Albert Einstein; “I have made the Gita as the main source of my inspiration and guidance for the purpose of scientific investigations and formulation of my theories.”. Coming to the heart of your comment, the most recent research shows that the dark energy and dark matter are the two sides of the same coin as is the manifested energy and matter of the present universe. If you want to know about the connection between two dark sides instead of going through scanty research works that exists in physics to day you should go through 5000 years old Hindu epic the Devi Bhagabat.
ScienceandNonduality Blog – How is the world created from nothing? The answer has recently been discovered, and is explained in the book by Amanda Gefter, a book that has been praised by many well-known theoretical physicists. The answer is based on the recent discoveries of dark energy, the holographic principle, non-commutative geometry and what Gefter calls the one-world-per-observer paradigm. Gefter demonstrates that when correctly interpreted, the inevitable conclusion of modern physics is that everything is observer-dependent. Everything depends on the frame of reference of the observer. This nicely fits in with McKenna’s definition of Truth, which he alternatively calls the void, empty space, No-self, non-dual awareness, or Brahmanic consciousness. InThe Theory of Everything, Jed McKenna makes a number of interesting observations about the nature of reality and consciousness, but takes a decidedly anti-science stance. Is McKenna really anti-science, or is he just arguing against the conventional interpretation of science? The point McKenna makes is the observer’s world can only appear when the observer is present, which he calls Atmanic consciousness.

Hindu Vedanta Cosmology Suggests Dark Matter and Dark Energy Have an Anthropic Relationship to the Observable Universe of LightCosmology and Modern Science: Some Remarks by Ian Watson (Studies in Comparative Religion, Vol. 7, No. 3 (Summer, 1973). © World Wisdom, Inc. IEVERY philosophy, as a wisdom-system (that is, metaphysic) has a cluster of doctrines which in one sense define it. Indian thought, especially Hindu Vedanta, has, not one, but several sets of variously related clusters, according to whether the system is expressing itself as epistemology, ontology, cosmology, soteriology, anthropology—or whatever. And there are more—but these will do.A number of these may be familiar, but one or two will likely be strangers. ‘Epistemology’ (Logos of Epistemé) is no doubt familiar as “the theory of knowledge”; “ontology” (Logos of Ontos), perhaps as the Existentialist-cum-Phenomenologist “study of being” (roughly what Aristotelians have wrongly taken “metaphysics” as a whole to be [1]); and “anthropology” (Logos of Anthropos), as “a study of the nature of persons”, usually, though wholly misleading, called “philosophical psychology” or “philosophy of mind”. But—”cosmology”? “soteriology”? These, unless we are historians of science or theologians, are not terms with which we are very likely to be very familiar—leastwise, not as bits or branches of “philosophy”.IIBy “cosmology” is meant, the quest for wisdom and truth about the cosmos, as a whole—the Logos of Kosmos. This quest relates in some sense to that espoused by modern science. But, because of a certain general difference in approach, because, that is, Hindu Vedanta is what I will term “principial” and not “materialist-individualist”, it employs different techniques in its effort to articulate, and to teach, an adequate understanding of the supposed largely observable cosmos. Moreover, it admits different, indeed more areas to count as, authentically, the subject-matter to be accommodated by any such “understanding”. It includes, for instance, what in the West is known derisively as “the Occult” (i.e., “the hidden”)—astrology, palmistry, necromancy, psychomancy, and so on.Generally speaking, the intentions of Indian Cosmology and of modern science in the West are roughly identical: both seek an explanation, descriptive where possible, of the basics of the more or less observable cosmos. But because there exist differences elsewhere in the general metaphysics, how these general intentions are carried through differs in kind from one approach to the other. For modern science, the quest, on at least many understandings of this discipline from within it, is for basic particles, or anyway, components, on the assumption that these basics must be usually “physical”, though, if we accept “psychology”, on some understandings occasionally “mental”, stuff somehow, usually, though not necessarily, assumed to be observable. Hindu Cosmology is, on the other hand, a quest for basic principles, thought of as real, though non-substantial (i.e., non-stuffist, whether the stuff be physical or mental), sources, occasions, grounds, or (perhaps best) ultimate explanations of all substantial (or, stuff) ‘manifestation’; this latter being then considered only seemingly or relatively real.Indeed, I believe a largely ignored vast importance of Hindu Vedanta is that, if properly interpreted, it can offer a viable alternative to modern science as an explanatory-system of the ultimate nature of the cosmos. To do this, one vital beginning will be a proper interpretation of the doctrine of the gunas, as “principial non-substantial basics”, or, as the name implies, “principial properties (or qualities)” which, at a highly ultimate level, determine the behavioural-tendencies (vasanas) inherent in all subsequent manifestations. Their influence, in other words, is wholly responsible for all behaviour, said ‘behaviour’ simply being their manifest expression. Put simply, and in Western terms, this doctrine is, at a certain high, though not wholly ultimate level, descriptive of the basics explanatory of the behaviour of all things. The gunas are, of course, threefold: Sattva, or the Light Principle, whose influence or manifest expression is latent in what, in the West, we would call “the tendency” to behave upward; that is, towards the most fulfilling or ultimate expression of the nature of the being in question, which, in the case of persons’ [2] will be a conscious realization of one’s person (jivâtma) at its best, most wholly developed or fulfilled. Secondly, Tamas, or the Darkness Principle, whose influence or manifest expression is latent in the tendency to behave downward, or away from this ultimate, or most fulfilling realization: and thirdly, Rajas, or the Light-Darkness Principle, whose influence, as manifest expression, results in the vascillation between fulfilling, improving, or developing movement, and non-fulfilling movement, known only too well to us all. These principial basics are, in other words, advanced as explanatory of all behaviour in a way which, in some at least helpful degree, parallels that which in science is meant by (for instance), “ultimate particles having velocity and mass, or perhaps velocity only”; or perhaps more closely, notions such as “directed energies” or “directed drives”, considered in some way to be substantial. Whether, on the other hand, these “principial basics” are ad hoc, or anyway, any less ad hoc than these things are in modern science, rests with appropriate investigation. And this involves investigating, and therefore entering that “beyond situation”, said to result in that appropriately odd experience on the basis of which the Rsis who advance these doctrines have done so. I will however not at this point say more about this doctrine: for here is not the relevant place. It is after all meant only as an illustration of the more general point that, in order to understand how Hindu Vedanta can offer a viable alternative to modern science as an ultimate explanatory-system, it is, in the very beginning, of vital importance to recognize the difference between the “principial” approach of the former, and the “substantial” or “stuffast” approach of the latter.See also: Kashmir Shaivism by Maria Syldona, Ph.D…further integration of anthropic reality and alternate to Vedic view of maya. |
Dark Matter Dark Energy Dark Gravity by Dr. Stephen Perrenod, 2011 Foreword, by Rich Brueckner: We all know of the Big Bang, how our universe came to be in a massive explosion, seemingly starting from nothingness. And for those who study cosmology, further understanding requires us to define the dark energies that somehow endowed our world with order. Now, we haven’t observed dark energy, dark matter, and the secrets of dark gravity directly, but we do see their effects. As we learn in this book, without them, the universe would not have formed in a way that could have spawned intelligent life. These dark energies are intriguing because they imply a backstory-phenomena that happened first that led to this outcome. So in this way, dark energies seem to be metaphors of science. Like the stories of Genesis and Adam and Eve, what they really represent is a deeper truth. Put yourself in the place of a Universal Mind before the Big Bang. If you really wanted to understand yourself, you would need to have something intelligent outside of yourself that could experience that which is you. Thanks to modern physics and cosmology, we no longer live in a universe where dark forces lurk far beyond our capacity for comprehension. I believe that, through the works of Stephen Perrenod and others, we will come to that knowing. But even as we look out to the stars, I think it begins with understanding that not only are we within the universe, but the universe is within us.

The Metaphysics of ‘Dark Matter’ ‘Dark Matter’ as an Occult Threat to the Fondations of Physical Science by Acharya Peter Wilberg, 2009. As explained in my book The Science Delusion, the so-called ‘scientific revolution’, far from transcending speculation and placing knowledge on a genuinely ’empirical’ did quite the opposite – treating its own abstract mental and mathematical concepts of reality as more ‘real’ than the tangibly experienced empirical phenomena they were supposed to explain. Thus, as Husserl argued in his ground-breaking work on The Crisis in the European Sciences, the idea that natural science is materialistic’ or ’empirical’ is a myth. Instead what is taken as ‘natural’ or ‘physical’ science substitutes “…a world of idealities for the only real world, the one that is actually given through perception, that is ever experienced and experienceable – our everyday lifeworld”. Which is why Heidegger insisted that: “Phenomenology is more of a science than natural science is.”
Torodial Flow of Galaxy Consciousness by Wendy Howard. The so-called ‘dark matter’ which is postulated as the source of the gravitational forces which surround and contain galaxies is merely the outer edges of the toroidal flow pattern of the relatively individualised consciousness of that particular galaxy. (There is no ‘dark matter’ because gravity is not predicated on matter but the angular momentum of energy which may, or may not, manifest as matter.) In summary, the toroidal flow pattern is the curvature in spacetime that is gravity. It’s not created by mass, but by self-referential recursive thought forms in consciousness which may eventually concretise into mass. Gravity is hence the precursor of mass, not the other way round.
Uniting Science and Spirituality by Lee Bladon – I’ve created this website to promote esoteric science, psychological integration and spiritual development. Energy-Matter: In the mid 1970s physicists and astronomers started looking for the missing matter of the universe. They called it “dark matter” because it is not visible. More recently the discovery of vast spherical energy auras, which totally encircle the galactic disc, indicates the presence of a large mass of dark matter and dark energy outside the galactic nucleus. Dark energy is a hypothetical form of energy which permeates all of space and has strong negative pressure, which explains the accelerating expansion of the universe. This dark matter and energy is the energy-matter of the aforementioned higher planes of Hindu and Buddhist cosmologies and the hidden spatial dimensions of string theory. See also Lee’s book The Science of Spirituality.
Ontology of Energy by Suresh Emre, 2013. An essay by a physicist drawing on the spiritual philosophy of Shrii Shrii Anandamurti – and the intricate play between the cognitive and operative aspects of Consciousness, and the similarities and differences between physics and Vedic concepts regarding energy. The current thinking in physics is that the total amount of energy in the universe is constant – based on the assumption that the physical universe is an isolated system. But I believe the discussion of energy should not be limited to the physical universe (space-time-matter). Shakti (divine energy) is present in all stages of manifestation. In my opinion “dark energy” is a measure of the activity level in the internal space. Vacuum activity develops as a reaction to the expansion of the external space in the first place. Afterwards, a feedback loop is established causing amplification of both the expansion and the vacuum energy. Sounds like a scary fundamental instability! – but balance is restored by the birth of baby universes. Emre has worked as a physicist at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory is a volunteer for the Renaissance Universal movement whose main goal is to inspire the reader to engage in Self-discovery and expansion of consciousness.
Aadishakti, Dark Energy, Dark Mother? Andrea Vecchione, Ph.D. (Candidate) The nature of this “Dark Energy” is still a mystery. While it holds an enormous intrigue for scientists and astronomers, there are compelling parallels to the visions and cosmology of the ancient world. As we learn more and more, will science and religion intersect? Are we telling in our own way, a story that has been told in cultures that never dreamed of the telescope? What are the parallels between what the Hindu texts describe as Aadishakti and Buddhist texts describe as “the void” and what contemporary scientists are discovering?

Dark Energy and the Land of Light by Narasimha Das, Spain. “Dark matter” does not refer to “black holes” or to “singularities.” Very little is known about dark matter. According to quantum physicists, all planets and objects in the universe — including all black holes, quasars, planets and singularities– comprise only about 5 percent of matter. The other 95 percent of cosmic mass is this mysterious dark energy or dark matter. This figure is likely close to Vedic calculations for the extent of ether, which is around twenty times greater than all other gross elements combined. If “dark energy” is equivalent to Vedic definitions of ether, “dark matter” might be concentrated ethereal objects, such as the planet Rahu. These discoveries involving dark energy are considered by some scientists to be the beginning of a grand new era for scientific research. Nowadays the sky is the limit. More precisely, ether is the limit for mundane science.
Missing Matter by Sean Carroll. Studies on the rotation of stars around galaxies have shown that 96% of the universe is unaccounted for. In theory, stars on the outer rim of a galaxy should not be able to rotate as fast as those near the center, because the increased centrifugal force would cause them to fly off into outer space. However, it has been found that stars on the rim of a galaxy do rotate just as fast as those in the center, which contradicts the laws of physics! So scientists had to come up with a new theory that would take this into account. The mass of all the visible matter within a galaxy only provides 4% of the gravitational field that is required to stop it from literally ripping itself apart. So why aren’t all the galaxies flying apart? In the mid 1970s physicists and astronomers started looking for the missing matter of the universe. It is a relatively new concept that forms part of the “Standard Model”, which states that the universe is composed of approximately 4% visible matter, 23% dark matter and 73% dark energy. This dark matter and energy is the energy-matter of the aforementioned higher planes of Hindu and Buddhist cosmologies and the hidden spatial dimensions of string theory.
Cosmic Consciousness – Are We Truly Connected? A Journey to Well-being, Happiness, and Success By James A. Cusumano, Ph.D., 2010. Editor’s Note: As Deepak Chopra writes in the Forward to Jim’s article, “In this remarkable article about the nature of true reality, Jim Cusumano explores the world of quantum physics and what it can teach us about consciousness and spirituality. Jim’s explanation of the way theoretical physicists understand the nature of the reality-consciousness connection will open up a new world for many. He explains how scientists and the ancients have reached many of the same conclusions about the nature of the universe despite their different paths to truth and their different ways of knowing.”
Life Is Medicine A compendium of healing information on all levels – environmental, personal, and social In the chronicles of religious experience, one would like to see some kind of commonality of experiences so that one could identify a pattern that could be traced to physical and/or psychological processes and structures. Thus one could create a scientific approach to cataloguing religious experience. Unfortunately there is not much that repeats from one individual to another. Visions of all kinds are reported. Differing experiences of differing durations and aftereffects are reported. Interpretations traverse the New Age communities in as many variations as there are subjects. Thus I was amazed when, after my own religious experience in 1973, I found references to similar experiences. I found two that alluded to my personal experience and one that was identical. In Castaneda’s Tales of Power, in Baba Ram Dass’ Be Here Now, and in Gopi Krishna’s Living With Kundalini. The sequence of events that are common in Krishna’s nirvikalpa experience and my own.
The Existence Equation Conjecture A bew [sic] theory (actually a hypothesis) with critical commentary – 2013 – the Existence Equation Conjecture by Louis A. Del Monte. In this paper, I explore myths, statues, idols, folklore, and scripture from some of our global ancestors that seem to lead us down the ‘worm-hole’ of time into a vast luminous darkness. Through this excavation we can compare our ancestral voices with contemporary discoveries and construct a bridge between them.

History and Philosophy of Science A thread started by Da Fire, 2005. Now that scientists humbly acknowledge that we know less than 10% of the universe, how can the philosophical community help in drawing out a metaphysical reality to render the vision of dark energy and dark matter clearer? Does anyone have any suggestions as to whether or not we can take part in the new revolution of physics by laying out the metaphysical side of the equation.

Nonduality Conference 2009 abstracts: Based on the recently published book by Duane Elgin, The Living Universe: Where are we? Who are we? Where are we going? The view of a non-living universe has led to rampant materialism and environmental destruction. A living universe perspective radically transforms our concept the cosmos, the nature of our identity, and our understanding of the evolutionary journey of the human family: 1) Where are we? The combined wisdom of the sciences speaks with stunning clarity – we live in a universe that is almost entirely invisible, flowing with an immensity of energy, continuously emerging anew, and brimming with sentience. 2) Who are we? Life exists within life. Our life is inseparable from the aliveness of the living universe. With renewed feelings of wonder, we can open to a larger sense of self that connects into the subtle aliveness of a living universe. 3) Where are we going? Humanity is growing up and growing into the understanding that we are beings of both biological and cosmic dimension.
